Penang - Tropical Spice Garden
Dec 09 - Tropical Spice Garden, Teluk Bahang, Penang.
This award winning eco-tourism garden is set in an 8 acres secondary jungle.
No worries about mosquito - you can get a spray of repellent with your entrance ticket.
The garden is tranquil and relaxing. You can also see a family of monkeys which are quite used to human stares. The jungle trail is a little hilly - the peak has a japanese styled gazebo with bamboo trees. If you tire yourself with the easy trails, you can also have some refreshments at the hilltop cafe located a little hike up from the ticket hut. There is a good view of the blue sea from the cafe.

Traveller's Blues - Melaka
7 Dec 2009 (Monday) - We were at the Melaka Tourism Centre at 8.30 am and it was out of street maps, see the notice at the glass window. What a time to be out of maps - this being the school holidays.
We thought of taking the Melaka River Cruise, the counter that was supposed to start operating at 9.00 am finally opened at 9.20 am, very bad impression to visitors waiting at the counter. The operating time posted at the counter (9.00 am) did not mean the first boat would leave at 9.00, it was to leave at 10.00 am - what a waste of precious tourist time. Those waiting at the counter were disappointed and left, so did we.
The captain of the boat was happily smoking on board as the boat docked, even though a sign posted on the boat stated "no smoking". The captain quickly hid from view when he noticed our camera.
Sad to say that although Melaka is now a world heritage site, it still has a lot to improve in terms of being tourist friendly.
